I remember cutting coupons for my mother when I was young. She would store them in a carrier that had categories for different types of coupons.

This is probably fine but after watching this video it seems like more organization is necessary to save serious bucks. There's only a quick shot of her coupons in this video.

Anyone have success with organizing coupons?

I have a very small expando from Office Max/Depot/Staples and I have the basic categories that I use the most entered. Everything else goes into misc. I keep my grocery list at the front each week and then pull the coupons I know I'll be using. It's been harder since I am trying to eat more organic food and fresh veggies and they don't seem to offer coupons for those.

The expando is small and works really well. I don't keep coupons for stuff that I wouldn't normally buy, so I don't need a crazy big binder like I've seen some people use. I simply don't use a lot of the products that are in the coupon circulars lately. Kind of frustrating. Plus, I can throw the expando in my glovebox or purse and I never forget it that way. (Along with my reusable produce and grocery bags.)

Exactly right on the organic stuff and fresh food. Our daughter (and my wife a bit) are allergic to things that usually have coupons, and we are trying to eat more fresh foods. – mbhunter Nov 16 at 4:35
I've generally stopped buying the paper. I get mailers from Smith's with organic coupons quarterly and I usually get them in Body + Soul, my favorite magazine. If your daughter needs to eat G free or sugar free, I can give you a couple of cookbook recommendations that I really liked. (I am supposed to be low glycemic, but not g free, but g free seems to be in all of the books lately.) – Frugallawyer Nov 16 at 7:23

I like this recommendation from unclutterer.com, which involves using one of thos elittle photo brag books. I only do the coupon thing when my local store has triple coupons. Otherwise, I do OK with Aldi and the Farmer's Market.

We should visit our Aldi more. The couple of times I went in there I was pleased. – mbhunter Nov 26 at 6:59
I <3 Aldi. Today, in a post-Thanksgiving funk, I decided to run over to the swank Harris Teeter. I only wanted yellow squash and sweet potatoes, and I needed to drop off some library books near La Teeter, and so I thought, how bad could it be? It was bad. I came out with squash and sweet taters and brussel sprouts and milk and sour cream and diet coke and (shameful face) cheddar popcorn. And I spent $38. $38 at Aldi would have filled my trunk with groceries. I feel like I did a bad bad thing. All because I wanted more of those Thanksgiving sides . . . – Dogfood Provider Nov 28 at 5:27
